Montrose and Other Distributors

CB Fonder has already been available through other platforms, such as online brokers Avanza and Nordnet, as well as challengers like SAVR, Fondo, and Levler. Now, there is an opportunity to invest in Europe’s top-quality companies and the world’s best environmental companies through another platform – Montrose.

Active Management vs. Index Funds

Montrose offers a wide range of funds, both actively managed and passive index funds. A common question is: “Which fund is the best?” or “Should I choose index funds or actively managed funds?”

A large body of international and Swedish research has shown that 65–75% of actively managed funds underperform their benchmark index each year. However, what is often overlooked is that index funds can never outperform the index. Index funds must follow the index to be classified as such – and their performance is therefore directly affected by the fees. In contrast, actively managed funds have the potential to outperform the index because they deviate from it.

At CB Fonder, we have an active management strategy based on clear criteria that allow us to deviate from the index:

  • Proven business models: We only invest in companies where the management truly makes a difference, unlike companies that rely on external factors like commodity prices.
  • Minimum market capitalization: We invest in companies with a market capitalization of at least one billion euros. This minimizes the risk of unexpected “skeletons in the closet.”
  • Market leaders: We focus on companies that are leaders in their sector or have the potential to become leaders, often due to high barriers to entry, such as significant investments in research and development.
  • Stable earnings growth: We select companies with stable and structural long-term growth, independent of economic cycles.
