In a recent interview with Privata Affärer, our portfolio manager, partner, and CEO Alexander Jansson shares his market outlook and highlights the sectors worth investing in. He sees a clear shift in market trends and warns against investing in renewable energy, calling it “practically ice-cold from an investment perspective.” As a result, CB Fonder has had no exposure to the sector for over a year.
Following Northvolt’s bankruptcy and several tough years for companies like Renewcell, Ørsted, and Vestas, Alexander believes that the green energy transition has lost momentum. Many companies in the sector struggle with low profitability, making it an unattractive investment. Instead, he points to other promising opportunities, particularly within industrials and energy infrastructure.
Among the stocks he highlights are Schneider Electric, Siemens, ABB, Alfa Laval, Belimo, and GEA Group – all strong players in energy efficiency and the energy transition. Additionally, the fund has increased exposure to materials companies such as Air Liquide, Saint-Gobain, Linde, and Holcim, which play a key role in the global shift toward sustainability.
A major shift in the fund’s strategy this year has been moving away from expensive U.S. growth stocks to cheaper, more cyclical European companies. Alexander sees significant opportunities in Europe, where stocks are currently at record-low valuations relative to the U.S.
