CB Fonder has released a new sustainability report for 2024, outlining the company’s approach to environmentally and ethically responsible investment management. The report compiles analyses, results, and examples of how investments in our two funds, CB Save Earth Fund and CB European Quality Fund, are managed according to strict ethical guidelines and a rigorous exclusion process. Both funds are classified as Article 9 under SFDR, meaning they adhere to high standards regarding social and climate-related considerations.
The report details how we assess and monitor carbon footprints across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, as well as how we calculate CO₂ intensity for each fund. This provides a concrete overview of portfolio companies’ emissions throughout the value chain, with a focus on energy efficiency and the reduction of fossil-based assets. Additionally, the report highlights how we integrate principles from the UN Global Compact and other international guidelines related to human rights and anti-corruption.
A key feature of this year’s report is our case study on Kingspan, an international company active in insulation and ventilation, among other areas. Kingspan’s product Kooltherm K15 was present in Grenfell Tower, sparking extensive discussions regarding fire testing and safety regulations. The report explores the background of the incident and the measures the company has taken over several years to address deficiencies. Despite the improvements Kingspan implemented, CB Fonder decided to divest its holdings in both CB Save Earth Fund and CB European Quality Fund in 2024. This illustrates our approach to continuously reviewing and reassessing portfolio companies as new information emerges.
The report also highlights how our European equity fund, CB European Quality Fund, invests in energy efficiency, digitalization, and healthcare, while our environmental fund, CB Save Earth Fund, focuses on environmental technology, water management, and renewable energy. Additionally, it details how we systematically evaluate companies using international standards such as the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and the EU Taxonomy. The report also provides clear insights into how Net Zero targets and low-carbon business practices influence our investment decisions.
We invite you to read the full report for a comprehensive review of our environmental and ethical investment work and how we strive to achieve long-term returns with reduced climate and resource impact.
